The Ibiza Half Marathon is an event promoted by the Ibiza Half Triathlon Sports Association, and is scheduled for April 20, 2024 with a scheduled start time of 6:00 p.m.. The event has the support of the Consell d'Eivissa, as well as the municipalities of Ibiza and San José, who join as sponsors.
The route of this outstanding sporting event connects the town of San José with the city of Ibiza, and is approved by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA). Thanks to this approval, it has been included in the Spanish national calendar as International category I. The supervision of the judges of the Athletics Federation of the Balearic Islands guarantees the integrity of the competition.
The race, which will attract close to a thousand athletes, will open in San José and will cover emblematic points such as Cala Jondal, Sa Caleta and San Jorge, culminating in the emblematic Port of Ibiza. The end of the race will give way to an event in the Port of Ibiza, full of sports exhibitions, musical performances and opportunities to enjoy, specially designed for both athletes and their companions.
At the pace of strides and along roads that wind between pine trees and sea shores, the race will take runners to explore the idyllic southwest of the island. Along the course, strategically located refreshment stations will be established every 5, 10 and 15 kilometers, and each kilometer will be marked by an information panel that will guide the athletes. The maximum time to complete the journey will be 2 hours and 30 minutes, providing an exciting but achievable challenge.
The Ibiza Half Marathon will award cash prizes and well-deserved trophies to the top three absolute finishers, both in the men's and women's categories. In addition, achievements will be recognized in the various categories according to age. As a symbol of achievement, each runner who crosses the finish line will have the opportunity to personalize their Finisher medal with their name and finishing time. Registration will include a runner's bag with various gifts provided by sponsors, along with accident insurance for participants' peace of mind.
To guarantee a better experience, the organization has planned for transportation of competitors to the starting line in San José using exclusive buses, which can be requested when registering.
